What To Know About Zara Phillips Clothing

By Jaclyn Hurley

Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips, better known as Zara Phillips, is a British equestrian. This is the title given to individuals who ride or perform on horseback, and in the case of Phillips, she followed the footsteps of her parents when she took up riding. Phillips is also the second oldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and currently fifteenth in the line of succession. In 2009, she became involved in fashion. More specifically, a Zara Phillips clothing line.

During this time it was announced that she would be designing her own line of equestrian clothing for the Musto Outdoor Clothing company. The range is called ZP176 and is named after the team number she received when she first represented her country. ZP176 was officially launched in July of 2010.

Headwear and caps, tops, breeches and jodhpurs, coats and jackets, trousers, t-shirts, base layer and accessories are available. These items feature a sporty appearance. They are constructed from technical fabrics that are meant to keep the wearers, and riders, protected whether on or off the saddle.

Consumers can purchase the products from the website of Musto. On there, they can also narrow selections down in order to shop by technology, product type, activity, outwear type and color. While items are meant to be used by equestrians, they can also be used by normal people. The prices are expected to range based on numerous factors.

Phillips has said that she tried and tested everything in the collection. Most of her involvement was about tweaking little things here and there to make the items more practical for wearers. She says her line is in no way about mainstream fashion but is about engineering goods that work well for training and are not bad to look at.

As far as functionality, some of the products are made with special material to make them windproof, breathable, waterproof, fast drying, water resistant and showerproof. Furthermore, there are items designed specifically for competition, stables and event, or in saddle activities. Other technologies that were used in the making of these goods: Primaloft, SPF, Coolmax, DWR, and Primaloft Synergy.

The line was two years in the making. While functional, the pieces are still classy sportswear. They might be preferred by individuals who want to look good while training or competing, but not at the loss of functionality. The experience she has as an equestrian has helped her design items that will work best for other athletes of the sport.

Many of the products are in neutral colors: blues, white, grays, blacks and even reds. The products also feature classics of Musto, such as Snug Chaps and Grooms Gilet with designs that have been updated, new fits and an expanded color palette. Sizing for most of the items is available in 8 to 18 and x small to xxx large. Availability may vary considerably. The features, technology and reviews of products are included on the Musto website. Availability may vary considerably. Most of the products can be purchased directly from the Musto website. There are also a few other sites that sell gently used or new items as well.
