Where Can You Work Once You Become A Personal Trainer?

By Joseph Caster

One of the first things you should consider if you are thinking about becoming a personal trainer is where you are going to work once you reach your goal. There are 3 main options available to trainers. The first is to work at a local gym either receiving a flat salary or being paid per client. If you can afford it, the second option is to open your own facility and have clients come to you for training. The final option is the provide in-home training at the client's house.

There are pros and cons with all of the options. If you are working at a gym and have a large list of dedicated clients who insist on working only with you, but you receive a flat salary from the gym, you probably aren't getting paid what you deserve. If you have a list of clients and a good reputation, you should insist on a share fee arrangement with your employer.

If you have a client list and the financial resources available, opening your own business is often the most lucrative option. You will need to have the finances available to buy or rent a location for your gym and you will need to think about the costs of advertising in order to reach new clients. There is a lot of overhead involved with owning your own business, so that is something to keep in mind before you decide to make this substantial investment.

Personal training at home is becoming much more popular, and this method is not just reserved for the famous and the wealthy. Many people who are average also use these services in order to gain the motivation and the desired results that they are looking for. The only downside is that you must travel to the client, and that means an additional expense and time wasted in travel.

Whichever option you choose, this career is a great way to bring in a salary while loving what you do. We all have to pay bills every month, but few are lucky enough to be able to pay their bills by doing something they love. You can be your own boss and have as much flexibility as you need and at the same time, you can help your clients reach their health and fitness goals.
